DIY Car accessory gift collection

My husband has been driving my car since we sold his.

I would not have a problem with that except for the fact that I'm very type A.

OCD clean type, every thing just so kind of crazy!

 When I looked and saw trash all over the car, not just paper trash but wrappers and soda bottles etc.

I flipped! I cleaned out the car and got the gum off of my floor mat on the drivers side!

I absolutely HATE gum the texture, the smell, when people chew it and most of all ON things.

And my hubby must have had some on his right shoe....

ok that really just peeves me!

I spent a good hour getting the gum off of my mat.

Yes I could have bought a new one but caddy floor mats are spendy!

I don't have $45 for one mat. I guess I could but nail polish is more important.

so in a complete way I cleaned my car, top to bottom, shampooed, scrubbed, wiped and polished.

(soda does not belong IN the cup holder, it's a sticky mess)

I also unloaded all of the trash and misc crap.

My husband has thee most useless crap in the car.

Do you need two pairs of shooting glasses?

a foam rubber grenade?

3 Ipod radio transmitters?

3 ice scrapers? (its still technically summer)

and two sets of jumper cables?

REALLY?!?!??

So lets lay down the clean law!

All trash must go in the garbage, I didn't have one so I made one!

Its a simple bucket design with cotton and clear vinyl.

I had the cup cake fabric about three years and finally decided to use it.

The time for the cup cakes has come!
Also this was my first time using clear vinyl. 

not as scary as I thought but also its a trash can, who cares?

There is clear vinyl on the inside but its obviously hard to see.

I also didn't use a ruler to cut the fabric so it is wonky!

This is the vinyl I bought to make sandwich baggies, that I guess you can't use......

But how do you hang a trash can in the car?

I wanted it to go behind the passenger seat but the head rests are a pain to get off so whats a girl to do?

thats right, I used a clip curtain thingie. That is its technical name BTW.

And of course Bumble HAD to help.....

I still had some cup cake fabric left over so I made a lanyard!

I decided I needed one when my friend threw her keys in the HUGE dumpster instead of the trash and I got it out with a telescoping pole with the brush on the end for car washing.

Thank goodness she had a lanyard on it or she would have been very stinky........

 I upcycled this clip from our room mates back pack he cut off.

they were just for looks anyway and I needed some.....

 Sometimes you don't want to have this big set of keys with a huge lanyard so it detaches! 

I know my sewing isn't the best and yes, my mother was right about the matching thread, it does look better when it matches!

But you get the general concept right? 

The key rings went on this side really well!

The one thing I didn't cover was the paper mess in the car.

 As soon as I get my hands on some velcro I'll probably attach it to the inside or the arm rest!

Please help me I'm falling...... (free Shelf with pop tabs)

In love with YoooOOOOOOOuuUUUuuuuuuu!

And with this new shelf I made!

I've got some pallet boards left from my pumpkin making and I needed a shelf.

 I also didn't have any shelf brackets....

 Yes I was cheap and used pop tabs! 

I'm not planning on hanging anything heavy from the shelves, 

maybe some framed art etc but my bowling ball collection will not be housed there!

I took my collection of screws from my dad and my drill bit set and got to working!

I started by drilling pilot holes for the screws, they were all different size screws so I at least wanted to make the drilling a tiny bit easier!

 After the pilot holes the rest was easy!

I just screwed the pop tabs on!

 It's not the prettiest thing in the world but really its a really cheap shelf, I didn't even sand the warped boards......

they are extremely warped fyi.

You can clearly see the pop tabs if you look but really?????

REALLY???

Remember how I said the boards are warped?

Yeah.... sooo, after spending 20 minutes with 3 different levels this is actually LEVEL.

It is so twisted that you kind of have to prop things on there or use poster putty!

meh.

I laughed so hard I was crying by the time I got to this point.

and I don't laugh quietly. AT ALL

I'm sure someone thought I was dying.

Lessons learned today,

when making a shelf use a straight board. Also buy shelf hangers.

You get what you pay for.

I'm easily entertained.

Dollar store candle trays.

I bought these awful trays at the dollar store and I really didn't like the theme for fall.

 I was thinking that orange would be great for halloween, well that didn't turn out so hot, it would not cover the design. crap. 

 My next choice was the hammered metal look

 Spendy but it makes dollar store decor cute!

 The one turned out well!

 the orange one, not so much. at all.

 the orange came through. double crap!

I ended up just hosing the paint on! once it dries in five years I'm sure it will look cute!

Fall decor mayhem.

Its about time for me to get on the bandwagon for fall. 

This is the first year that I'm not going back to school, it's an odd feeling, but more time for crafting!!

JoAnns had their labor day weekend sale and of course I can't pass up 1/2 off clearance fabric.

I picked up this faux silk. 2 and a half yards for 4? YES!

it just so happened to be the perfect width for my table I made!

No sew table cloth for the win!

It just so happened that it looks amazing with my centerpiece I made!

 The cats were very helpful....

 I also took some pallet boards and sprayed them with orange spray paint to make some pumpkins.

When I took the pallets apart I kept the bent nails

 (because I KNEW I could use them for SOMETHING!!) And I used them as the stem, after drilling some pilot holes. I just plugged them in. I also used some vintage fabric from my grand mothers stash for the leaves, and tied them on, I didn't even sand down the planks to be honest.

 I then just put them around the house.

 I didn't even brush the dirt off! it makes it look rustic, right?

 I even just threw some leaves from joann's up on the bookcases.

 I even had time to make a fall table runner. 

I bought all of this fabric for a table runner for my dining room table until I bought the silk.

Well crap I can't let all of that go to waste!

So here is my fall table runner, its still long enough for my table but it got placed on the coffee table.

 I just used the width of the jelly roll size and went from there. easy peasy took about an hour.

 Ironing included and I HATE to iron.

 I used some left over fabric from something.

 And finally the last of the pumpkins!

What to do with embroidery?

Well if you're like me you have a million embroidery designs and have no idea what to do them with.

so here is my first step.

I made one coaster. that counts right?

I took some hand me down courd and made a coaster.

Autumn decor

It's that time of year again to roll out the pumpkins and everything you own that is orange and black.

Buying the halloween candy isn't so bad either!

I've already hit up hobby lobby and picked up the floral and candle holders. 

here is the decor I made. As soon as I got home I made all of it!

How often does that happen???once!

Here is my free trash to treasure side board!

Cat tails and picks in the test tube vase.

I just added some candle holders and a pumpkin.

 My crown molding shelf just got the rest of the cat tails I didn't use and two small candle holders.

I'm keeping it simple, I don't like the 'let me pile everything I bought on this shelf' look.

 The dining room table got a new centerpiece. 

one bush of flowers + one foam block + basket =Centerpiece.

I just throw all the flowers in a pile and pick them up and stick them in the foam,

It really is that easy!

 A closer look at the arrangement. I had to add some roses from my stash to fill in some of the holes.

One bush is not enough I guess!

 The candle holders I also bought today.

I bought a huge collection of candle making supplies at a rummage sale here ($50!!)

She included about 200 already made candles and tarts so I figured I would use up the ones with the wicks! Autumn harvest was my choice for the scent!

 I wasn't really planning on decorating the living room all too much so here is the new candle stuff on the tv shelf. I also plan on making some wood halloween decor when it gets closer.

 I know I should have dusted and turned the tv off but really it isn't all that fancy anyway!

My crooked mantle got re arranged, yeah I really should have fixed it, yeah yeah......

but I just moved my beakers and candles here and a few of the dried flowers from my husbands last bouquet he bought me. I can't seem to throw the flowers away! I know that I will use them somehow!

I'm Back!

These last few months have been torture for me! I was working at a day spa more than full time and having celiac disease and working at a place that has no manners with their bread has made a huge hit in my health. I have now taken a step in the right direction and quit.

Now I'm back to sitting on the couch and pinning crafts I will probably never make

I made the scrap wood fire works with wire and paint,

Yeah that was about it.

so far I haven't done one crafty thing. except I discovered pinterest.
