Home tour, Living room update.

I don't decorate my living room all that much for the holidays but I figured at $2.48 a pillow I could afford to add some summer time to the living room! yay target clearance!
So here is the normal tv view.
All the couches, and my new pillows, they only had three. I also added a table runner a family friend gave me for a wedding present. It was way too short for the 83" table and I really wanted to display it!
I also put a blanket where the cats sit and stare out the window, there is way too much cat hair up there!
How cute is the table runner!?? it works perfect!
My mother also bought me a faux book so I would stop ruining "perfectly good books" to make book safes etc. My husband and I am HUGE Sherlock Holmes addicts!
And here is the maroon couch I have no idea what to do with,
with two boys in the house I figured it would behoove me to have ample seating.
I also made a cd "file" box.
Yes I am this anal. get over it.
I printed out card stock with the categories and put them in a small oak molding box.
I apologize for the following images but this is as good as it gets.
I bought a kids book at a used book sale from the public library and cut out some butterflies to make
a specimen art piece for my niece for her birthday!
Even though I'm sure I will also make her something else!
took me about a whole five minutes to cut and tape them to the frame backing. easy!

New photos in old frames.

I brought a bunch of photo frames back from my parents house home and painted them.
I finally got around to putting photos in them.
Most of them are from my wedding or engagement photos.
Some of the photos are too small for the frames so I just added decorative paper.

And I added some more photos to the lower photo ledge.
Thanks for stopping by!

bulletin board re-do.

I've had this piece of cork board covered in ribbon for the last few years.
The main colors of my last place was yellow and brown, yeah its not so much anymore.
I dug in my stash until I found some fabric my mother and I agreed on.
I just took off the ribbon and stapled on the new fabric and used some of the brown ribbon over.
I thought about painting the frame but at least black goes with everything and I'm lazy.
And here it is hung above my desk.

and there she is ladies and gentlemen!
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy fourth and what I've been doing.

My husband is returning from a 6 month deployment.
I'm very nervous and I don't know why, and my way of dealing with the stress has been great for the state of the house. I've cleaned every square inch of this house with my mother.
I've also finished up all the crafts that I've been putting off.
So I really haven't been putting off this one but still...
This is my deployment "craft". For every day that he was gone I added a patch, there are 189 patches, I just finished it by putting the back on. I'm all about getting things done before they need to be done so I don't feel rushed or in a hurry. Naturally this was one of them!

Close up-ish of the quilt.
I also made a few ton of these wooden fire crackers!
With all of my projects I have a ton of scrap wood hanging out!
Some paint, christmas sparkly wire, glue, twine and sand paper and I got these!
They have gotten scattered all over the house, one bunch is even outside.
I didn't have time to dig out the faux flowers while stashing all my crap in a closet somewhere...
so I added pinwheels to the flowers I have. ta da. Its the thought that counts!
And here are the other bunches of fire works.

I even re-arranged the book cases so that they look better!
yes, I'm that anal about the whole home coming thing.

Happy fourth!
