A.B.U. purse and deployment handkerchief.

I've been very busy this week so busy I haven't had time to craft! GASP! so here is an oldish project.
My A.B.U. purse! My husband had an old apex jacket that zipper had broke.
I don't do zippies.
so here is my creation! I used the basic box construction style purse and just cut off the pockets and sewed them on the outside. First time using my Christmas gift of my Brother Se-400.
I made a name tape, I know that it's not quite the same as the ones on their uniforms but I didn't want a standard one anyway! also they don't make bright pink ones.
My lil blue bird! I have since put on some air force wife buttons.
The inside mess. I wanted to show the lining, I did use fleece just because I had it.

This is the hankie that I made for myself and I made a similar one for my friend who's husband is best friends with my husband, they happen to be deployed together.
I used a free star pattern from some where.
 Close up.
This is the other corner of the hankie.

Bedroom make over.

So this isn't really a make over so to speak but a refashion. We moved in october 10 and we just threw the furniture in the room. I had Yesterday off and got out all the old decor from my condo the only thing is that I actually got to paint my condo and no one cared. Here we have to paint every thing back to white and I'm not all about wasting $50 worth of paint just to re do it.
Yes I know you can see my dirty laundry out in the hallway. I was in the middle of sorting, but got bored.

there are two things of my husbands here, the night stand and the beautiful Japanese scroll, that he bought when he was stationed there, it was always rolled up in a box. I decided why the heck not?
I also have a very messy bed and yes I am drying clothing on my door knobs, who doesn't?
another couple of my husbands stuff, the dresser and the tv stand, oh and his uniform box. and yes my messy bed....
yay for already owning everything! I don't know what I would have done in the room if I didn't just unload it from a box.
 close up of the scroll.
Finally a clean made bed! Anyone that knows me should note there are no half drank glasses of pink lemonade!
And last but not least is my side of the closet! yes just one side of the closet! Aren't you proud of me??
Also yes I know that most of my clothing is black, no I am not depressed or anything I just went to hair school! And I need it to be color sorted and sorted by type. If I didn't have this huge closet I think I would need a trip to Ikea to buy one of their wardrobes.
I really want to paint that dresser dark brown and new hardware. add that to the list!

Craft room sneak peek.

We have a huge house that has 3 bedrooms. since we have our bedroom and a guest room what is a good housewife to do? yes, a craft room! so here is the work in progress.
A second hand countertop with two cubbie unit equals a great work space.
 Wall 'o' Shelves.
and all the boxes that are still left with some of my yarn.

A nice day in the frozen tundra Aka A nook book.

Today was gorgeous! it was a whopping 30 degrees! I still feel the flu kicking my tush but I did manage to craft. Nothing too complex or difficult. all I needed was a book about 1" bigger than my nook, (Which my husband bought me for Valentines day), Although he has yet to find out. Deployment is so horrible!
I did start on his valentines day gift but I may change my mind a few times before the 14th. Seeing that there is no way that my package will get there before march I'm not too worried about getting it done.

Ok back to the actual project here, So you get your book, I chose a book I bought from a used book sale put on by my local library. A glue stick, and a exacto knife.

Here is my cute lil nook! (I did look at all the options, kindle, nook color etc. But I liked this version because it looks like a real book, you can read it out in the sun and I can't read a book off a screen)
The touch screen menu, really easy to use!
Seriously it looks like a real book, and yes I am indeed reading a star wars book....
See how nice it was? The sun was shining! ( this does not show the 40mph winds though)
The lucky book that gets hacked ( I have read it three times and I paid about 10 cents for it!)
I started by gluing all of the pages together, thank goodness for dollar store glue sticks. FYI dollar tree does not accept mastercard....
I measured 1/2" around the edges which happened to be the perfect size.
I cut out the center and carved down the edges, make sure your glue is completely dry or you will end up ripping out sections you don't want to remove!
And the final product! My nook fits perfectly, I'm really proud of this one!
 profile of the book.
My cats were helping me (aka supervising)
Gir sits on the couch back making sure I do everything right.
and big foot meows at me until I feeds him.
